Be on the lookout for burnout

Be on the lookout for burnout

Now that the festive season is over it's a great time to check-in with your employees and see how they're doing and how they have handled the busy period over Christmas and New Years.

It can be hard to recognise the signs of burnout, but if you keep a lookout for some of the behaviours below you'll be on the right track. Are your workers:

  • Procrastinating?
  • Less productive?
  • Withdrawn?
  • Worrying?
  • Having trouble concentrating?

If they are (and even if they're not) now would be a great time to review your current work practices and how psychosocially safe your workplace is. You could review your current roles and responsibilities, and ensure none of them:

  • Lack control
  • Have unclear expectations
  • Receive recognition/reward
  • Have poor work/life balance

Having a psychosocially safe workplace can help reduce work burnout and fatigue, and ensure your workers are happy and healthy when they come to and leave work.
